Tea Sector Service Centre,Nepal (TEASEC) was established in response to the growing need to be address the problems faced by small tea growers of the Eastern Himalayan Region of Nepal.Despite the fact that the small tea growers contribute more than 85% of the total tea produced in the hills there was no organized institutions available to address the problems faced by them.In 2004 together with the leader of tea farmers district level farmers associations and the stake holders; TEASEC decide to form commercially viable service centre that would carter to the technical needs of the small growers pertaining various aspects of tea cultivation, production, manufacturing and marketing, along with addressing such needs.TEASEC also strives to provide technical support and strong forum for the small tea growers' policy lobbing in Nepal.The overall mission of TEASEC is to provide service to the small growers and enterprises to produce high quality tea and to generate sustainable incomes.The head office of TEASEC is based in Lalitpur and the field office of TEASEC is basedin Fikkal. TEASEC members include tea experts are working for the development of Nepali hill tea for around 40 years; people who are currently involved in the production,processing and marketing and representatives of small farmer's district federations and cooperative federations. TEASEC is an active member of the Tea Development Alliance of Nepal which comprises the organizations of major stakeholders, donor agencies and INGOs.

Mission To support the farmers with required technical facilities for producing high quality tea, which could help themfor sustainable income generation. Goals and Objectives To increase the income of tea farmers by increasing the productivity of tea and creating employment for the reduction of poverty in rural area and the objectives being 1. To increase the capacity of local, regional and national level organizations related to tea sector. 2. To organize the training, seminars and observation visits for orthodox tea producers small tea farmers in order to enhance their knowledge and skill in tea cultivation. 3. To establish co-operation with small tea farmer’s district federations involved in the development and expansion of tea cultivation. 4. To enable support from Nepal government and donor agencies for the infrastructure development, required for production and processing of tea. 5. To support the small tea farmers with the required technical knowledge for organic tea cultivation. 6. To provide support for the implementation of CoC in orthodox tea sector at farmers level by educating them about respect of people, respect of nature, transparency in the production system and high quality which are the main pillars of CoC. 7. To support small tea farmer’s district federations in developing project proposals. 8. To draw the attention of concern authorities about the problems faced by small tea farmers
